On the Advantages of In-Person CPE Courses

CPE Courses

There is no secret whatsoever that some of us prefer virtual learning and remote work. Ever since the COVID-19 outbreak began in 2020, we’ve heard nothing but the virtues of the remote environment.

Taking CPE courses virtually definitely does have a lot of advantages. Online learning is affordable, convenient, and sensitive to your other commitments and responsibilities.

Virtual CPE courses also give you unprecedented flexibility to plan your schedule as needed, and enable you to access resources near and far, all the way around the globe. Perhaps most importantly, there’s no commute required, so they’re much more affordable.

And to accounting professionals that just need to get their CPE credits in a timely manner, sometimes this makes virtual learning the best option. We can understand that.

But it doesn’t mean you should automatically dismiss the opportunity to investigate the in-person seminars and conferences we offer at CPE Inc.  .

There are still some great advantages to taking these, including the following.

Our In-Person Courses Are Highly Technical and Informative

While our virtual and self-guided courses are also highly informative (in a way, you get out of them what you put into them, just like many things in life) our in-person courses are highly technical and involved.

They also give you an opportunity to learn from some of the greatest minds in your field, as well as some of the greatest minds currently in business, and represent an excellent opportunity for both personal and professional development and education.

In-Person CPE Courses Are Much More Involved and Comprehensive Than Your Average Refresher

Refresher courses are effectively designed only to keep you current and compliant with your CPE credits, and that’s alright. When you need a refresher course, that’s what you should take.

But when your objective is not just to tick off the boxes, consider taking an in-person CPE course or seminar. We offer an extensive range of topics and they are much more comprehensive and educational than your typical refresher.

If you want to learn about industry news, changes in generally accepted practices, tax law, reporting and regulatory procedures, and other relevant topics, an in-person seminar is usually a much better experience, and much more thorough in terms of covering subject matter, than a refresher course.

We Offer a Wide Range of Subjects

Just like our virtual courses, we offer a wide range of in-person seminars on an equally wide range of topics, so you’re not limited in your areas of interest.

The following are just some of the different in-person conferences we’re offering in the near future.

  • SEC Conference: This conference will cover accounting and reporting updates for public companies from SEC regulators as well as leaders from Big 4 companies. It will cover SEC developments, FASB updates, ESG and financial reporting, non-GAAP measures and disclosures, and more.
  • Financial Leadership Best Practices Conference: This conference will cover new strategies for leading a remote workplace, finding talent, and utilizing technology to improve critical business decision-making.
  • Broker-Dealer Accounting Conference: This conference will give you the opportunity to hear directly from FINRA, CFTC, and PCAOB representatives and will cover regulatory trends, industry initiatives, and SEC enforcement issues, and much more.

These are only a few of the in-person conferences that are upcoming, and all of them are worth several CPE credits. For more information or to investigate additional upcoming in-person conferences and seminars, please consult the previous link.

They Involve Panels That Encourage Participation

One of the indisputable advantages of in-person learning is that you’ll get to actually meet - and interact - with your peers and industry professionals, including representatives from regulatory agencies.

Many in-person conferences and seminars have panels that actually encourage participation, allowing you to converse with, and ask questions of, other industry experts and professionals.

There Are a Wide Range of Networking Opportunities

There is no rival to an in-person conference or class when it comes to networking opportunities. You can meet other professionals and leverage virtual learning as a networking opportunity, but it won’t be the same as in-person learning.

You can learn a lot from your peers in the industry, and seminars like this offer networking opportunities for career development and advancement as well.

They Offer an Unparalleled Opportunity to Hear from the Industry’s Leading Experts

Our in-person conferences and seminars will give you unparalleled opportunities to hear from representatives from FINRA, the SEC, and other regulatory agencies, as well as from Big 4 companies and other successful companies in the industry.

It’s a Dedicated Environment for Learning

In-person seminars and conferences also offer a dedicated environment for learning that you just can’t get in a virtual setting - which is a fancy way of saying “there are fewer distractions.”

If you attend a seminar, it’s a whole environment where the atmosphere will be directed at the speaker and which is conducive to attention. Unfortunately (and for better or for worse) sometimes it’s hard to set up a virtual learning environment without any distractions. In-person is better for that.

They Provide a Superior Overall Experience

Last but not least, in-person study courses just provide a better holistic experience, inclusive of learning, exposure to industry experts with unparalleled scope and experience, networking opportunities, and freedom from distractions.

While some individual courses for fulfilling CPE requirements might be better taken in a virtual setting, that isn’t unequivocally the case for continuing professional education. Some CPE courses are better taken in person.

CPE Courses, Your Way

Don’t take any of this to suggest that virtual CPE courses are inferior in any way to in-person learning.

It’s just that so much press has been paid in the last three years to virtual learning, remote work and refresher courses that it’s time to cover the advantages of the traditional model.

CPE Inc. has the most industry offerings, including virtual, self-guided, and in-person courses covering relevant industry topics and updates.

CPE Inc. offers a huge range of courses on a comprehensive range of subjects that can help you stay up to date with CPE credits, easily and affordably.
